Congenital Heart Disorders
SYMPTOMS. Signs in infancy may be a blue appearance called cyanosis. Later
signs may include breathlessness, failure to grow properly, abnormal heart
rate and abnormal heart sounds. Sometimes there is no obvious signs until
adolescence or adulthood. Through routine medical examination, it may be
detected earlier.
CAUSES. In about 8 out of 1000 children, congenital heart disorders are
present at birth.
TREATMENT. Electrocardiograph may be used to diagnose the disorder.
.Surgery is highly successful in most cases.
